” Ets. Abi Khalil ” a history in the industry
It was year 1958 in Old Beirut, Lebanon, when Joseph Abi Khalil a young man with little education and a wealth of ambition discovered a method to bend steel pipes in order to make tables. The process required machinery and tools he could not possibly afford with 100 LL, which was all the money he had.
For great minds, however, creativity sees no obstacle, but rather an opportunity to fuel one’s passion and create even more. And so young Joseph invented his own machine, set up shop, and officially started the legacy of Ets. Abi Khalil in 1962.
Now an inventor, Joseph started by making simple tables, using his artfully bent pipes and simple wooden surfaces. With years and experience, the innovator proved to be a skillful entrepreneur, by continuously upgrading his products, adding more designs, improving production, and penetrating new markets.
The 1990’s marks a critical period in the history of Lebanon, as well as Ets. Abi Khalil. It was an era or renovation after years of wars that compromised most of the country’s infrastructure and real estate, leading naturally to an extremely high demand for construction, building materials, in addition to industrial and commercial grade furniture.
Having established a reputation of originality and transparency, Joseph Abi Khalil took his company to a whole new level by landing his first government contract, affording him to bring his creation and products to public schools and universities across the country.
As demand grew, so did Ets. Abi Khalil, becoming the leading distributor in the country to both the public and private education sectors, all the way to servicing even commercial and industrial offices.
Now in 2017, Ets. Abi Khalil has become a leading manufacturer, producer, and distributor of classroom and office furniture in Lebanon, as well as widely spreading its wings into the GCC skies.
Ets. Abi Khalil is a manifestation of creativity and smart entrepreneurship that became a family legacy, led by the visionary and founder Joseph Abi Khalil, and operated by his two sons, Managing Director Rony Abi Khalil and Interior Leading Designer Aziz Abi Khalil.
